A Bumpy Ride
29-Jun-04, Windsor Observer.
"I’ve been spending quite some time in
idyllic Wraysbury.
The village fete was thoroughly enjoyable. Hundreds of us
threw wet sponges at former councillors and other village
notables for charity, and putted to raise funds for the
local Conservative association.
There were vintage cars and motorbikes, performances and
games of all sorts. The village green was awash with
visitors and it was great to meet so many people having fun.
Quintessentially British fun!
The success of the fete was a testament to the
organiser’s diligence. They were supported by the Scouts and
I wish them every success next year.
Last Saturday I was again in Wraysbury talking to flood
victims, discussing local crime and the lack of visible
policing.
A little later, over bumpy roads, we ventured to Hythe
End to visit residents and uncover concerns.
The poor maintenance of roads, compared to Wraysbury, is
a key concern.
On investigation, it appears that the Liberals decided to
cut £1m from road maintenance. They will be spending our
money, instead, on a lavish £7m refurbishment of their
offices in the Maidenhead town hall.
I begin to understand their massive 8.9% council tax rise
- when they spoke of just 1.5% to get elected.
Brace yourself for a bumpy ride under the Liberals." |

People are happier when making their own decisions.
Business is the engine of the economy that generates our
jobs, incomes and taxes.
Government should not interfere in our lives beyond
protecting and defending us.
