Fanning the Flames
of Anti-Immigration
07-Apr-04, Windsor Observer.
"As the Parliamentary Candidate for
Windsor, my aim is to uncover the issues that concern people
in the Constituency.
So I helped design a 2 minute questionnaire to discover
the top issues of concern. Over the months I have been
door-knocking across the constituency with my team.
The results have surprised me. One of the most important
national issues is illegal immigration.
The reason for my surprise is that there are so few new
immigrants within the Windsor constituency, and only a
handful of reported cases of illegal immigration.
I have asked myself why so many of us – including myself
– feel so strongly about illegal immigration.
On investigation, the answer seems clear.
We elect our politicians to protect the interests of all
British people – no matter what our race or background. We
are like a family. But this Government has failed in their
duty to defend our interests.
We know their immigration policies don’t work. What’s
worse is, they fail to implement the policies then seek to
hide it, as witnessed by the recent embarrassments and
resignation.
After 7 years of failure, and with perhaps hundreds of
thousands of illegal immigrants in Britain, it is no wonder
we’re annoyed.
This Government is fanning the flames of anti-immigration
with its failure."
