Windsor MP Travels
through Time at Windsor and Royal Borough Museum
10-Oct-07, Press Release.
Adam Afriyie MP spent a busy afternoon visiting the Windsor
and Royal Borough Museum in Dedworth last Friday. The
museum is run by the Heritage Development Officer and is
supported by the Friends of Windsor and Royal Borough
Museum.
Mr Afriyie was shown around the museum by staff and
volunteers, which gave him an interesting insight into how
things used to be, such as the level of Victorian slum
housing and number of ladies of the night who operated
locally.
Mr Afriyie said:
“We need a proper museum in Windsor and I will continue to
support efforts to create one.”
“I commend the dedication of staff and volunteers to
discover and preserve the history of the Windsor area and I
am delighted that the Royal Borough is adding its support by
placing artefacts in special cases at other public places
around the constituency.”
He added:
“I was delighted to try on the Berkshire Fireman’s hat,
which confirms the history of a fire station presence in
Windsor. With the help of local councillors and activists
we’ll fight for services to remain in Windsor.”
